National Nuclear Security Administration Office of International Nuclear Security (NA-211): International Nuclear Security Techniques for Advanced Reactors (INSTAR)
The International Nuclear Security Techniques for Advanced Reactors (INSTAR) program helps to prevent theft of nuclear material or sabotage of nuclear facilities. The program partners with the U.S. advanced nuclear reactor industry and embarks nuclear power countries on nuclear security topics. By working with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA)’s INSTAR program on SeBD technical partnerships, U.S. companies can optimize internal resources and leverage the unique capabilities and expertise of the National Laboratories.
Office of International Nuclear Safeguards (NA-241): Advanced Reactor International Safeguards Engagement (ARISE)
The Advanced Reactor International Safeguards Engagement (ARISE) Program engages with U.S. industry to promote the implementation of safeguards by design (SBD) into advanced small modular reactors and associated fuel cycle facilities. SBD can mitigate risks to scope, schedule, and budget by reducing the need of costly retrofits. ARISE provides access to world-renowned safeguards experts who help prepare novel designs for international deployment.
